Finished!

It's all done!
I'm really happy with how it turned out. I think my ukulele will enjoy it's new hang out spot.

I chose this design because it's simple, can be taken apart for easy storage, and the design is eye-catching.
I plan to take it with me on my travels so the fact that it can come apart easily is a plus in this design.

Almost done.

I painted the German Flag on one side of the black piece, and the three colours on the white one.
On the other side of each, I painted terminology. On the black I have the music staff, and on the white, I painted a camera.

Getting there.

Starting the painting.

On the white piece, I'm painting on a camera, and then putting camera terminology all around it in black paint. On the other side, I painted some colours that I like, blue, pink, and purple-grey. I thought the effect was really nice!

On the black piece, I painted a staff, and notes. The notes I put on are the beginning of Hedwig's theme from Harry Potter, because I love Harry Potter. I will continue the same type of design like on the white piece, and write terminology for music on the black piece. On the back of it, I will paint the German flag.

First coat.

I painted the first coats on the stand.

For the design, I'm thinking about doing different things that interest me on each one.

I think I will try to incorporate music, Germany, and photography into the design.

Prime it!

The first step I took in painting my stand was to prime it.

I used black gesso on one half, and white tempera on the other.

Unfortunately, the tempera isn't very good as a primer. This just means I'll have to do some more coats of white on it later, which isn't a problem.

I have some ideas for the design, I was thinking of doing music notes, on the white, I'd make them black, and on the black I'd make them white.

I'm not sure about this design, I'm working on coming up with a different one, but now I have to paint the acrylic on.

Concepts

In the beginning, I was thinking about some of the following concepts to use for my ISU:

Surrealism
Antique
Fairy tale
Tea
Music
Sorrow

I was thinking of doing a sort of little craft for them, or perhaps a painting.

For the antique subject, I was thinking about making a photo collage of different things that look antiqued or rustic. I was also thinking about making a piece of furniture to turn rustic/antique.
I was thinking about painting a picture for surrealism, and sorrow.
For fairytale, tea, and music, I was thinking of doing a sculpture, or drawing.

With the fairytale concept, I was considering doing a painting, that would be an anti-fairytale. It could be a twist on a fairytale, an alternate universe fairytale.

I was trying to think of something that I would be able to use, less than something for decoration.
